Refresh your skin with a VI Peel in Boston! VI (Vitality Institute) Peels are medium-depth chemical peels that can address wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation, uneven complexion, and are appropriate for all skin types.
A VI Peel treatment session requires approximately 20 minutes and is simple to perform. First, the chosen VI Peel solution is applied onto the skin. The treatment is generally comfortable. A slight stinging sensation is commonly felt; to reduce this, cooling air is directed towards the skin with a fan.
The peel is left on the skin for four hours after application. During this time, it permeates down into the skin layers. After the required time has passed, the peel is washed off by the patient and post-peel wipes are used as directed for particular peels.
At The Dermatology Institute of Boston, we perform several types of VI Peels. Our dermatologists and certified dermatology providers will work with you to determine the ideal VI Peel for your needs.
VI Peel Original is an excellent choice for patients ages 13 to 39 or older, along with patients getting their first peel and patients with sensitive skin. It provides quick results and is generally well tolerated.
This peel is ideal for treating early signs of aging and can enhance the skin’s natural glow. It yields a smoother texture, makes skin look tighter, and can even treat keratosis pilaris.
VI Peel Original contains trichloroacetic acid (TCA), vitamin C, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and a blend of minerals.
VI Peel Advanced is a stronger peel designed for patients ages 40 and older. It boosts collagen creation and improves the skin’s rate of cell turnover. As a result, lax skin regains elasticity and becomes firmer, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
VI Peel Advanced contains the same ingredients as the Original Peel but at a 20%-higher concentration. This allows for deeper penetration compared to the Original Peel.
VI Peel Precision Plus is recommended for treating skin discoloration. Patients who are 18 or older can benefit from this peel, and can notice results in just seven days.
This peel improves the skin’s rate of cell turnover and reduces melanin pigment production. As a result, pigment issues like melasma, PIPA (post-inflammatory pigment alteration), and UV-induced pigmentation can be effectively reduced. Skin tone also becomes brighter and more even.
VI Peel Precision Plus contains skin-tone-restoring ingredients like hydroquinone, vitamin C, kojic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid, phenol, and retinoic acid.
VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus can benefit patients ages 18 and older in reducing the appearance of acne, acne scars, and post-inflammatory pigment alteration.
This chemical peel removes excess oil and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, helping to improve acne. It also decreases melanin pigment production to improve hyperpigmentation. A more even skin tone is restored, giving the complexion a refreshed appearance.
The ingredients of VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus include hydrocortisone, benzoyl peroxide, kojic acid, vitamin C, hydroquinone, trichloroacetic acid, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, and phenol.
A VI Peel uses a specially designed chemical solution to trigger sloughing of the upper skin layers. As a result, the aesthetic issues within the previous skin layers improves, leaving skin looking refreshed, clear, firm, even, and smooth.
If you have signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, acne, or textural concerns on your face, chest, neck, or the backs of your hands, you may be a candidate for a VI Peel. All of our VI Peels are safe for all skin types.
While there are a number of med spas that provide chemical peels, it’s best to go to the skin experts. The board-certified dermatologists and dermatology providers at The Dermatology Institute of Boston have the medical training required to understand skin revitalization on a deeper level.
Our personalized skin-rejuvenation treatments improve the aesthetics and overall health of the skin. We provide a caring and comfortable atmosphere for your VI Peel treatment and ensure safe, high-quality results.
Couldn’t recommend this office more! It’s obvious that the needs for each individual is catered to just them and their treatment. I am beyond grateful for the medical assistants and doctors here! 🙂

The cost of a VI Peel in Boston depends on the patient’s aesthetic goals and the skin issues being treated. Pricing is discussed during the consultation.
VI chemical peels do not require any sort of preconditioning, giving them an edge over other peel options.
Patients will need to avoid sun exposure before and after the date of their VI Peel. They must also discontinue topical acne treatments and any other active skincare ingredients (vitamin c, retinol, AHA/BHA, etc.) three days before their VI Peel session.
In our office, patients can download the VI Peel app, which provides post-treatment care instructions that are easy to follow. Additionally, after certain VI Peels, we provide a take-home kit for post-treatment care.
Patients will be able to go back to their normal activities right after their VI Peel without any downtime or recovery time. They should avoid any activities that could result in excessive sweating for around four days.
In areas where the skin is peeling, makeup should not be applied. Gentle moisturizers may be applied.
For the first few days of the healing process, the new skin cells will be more prone to damage from sun exposure. Because of this, patients should wear sun protection as directed and to avoid sun exposure.
Most patients find that two to three VI Peel treatment sessions provide best outcomes. One month should pass between each session to allow the skin to heal.
