Neelam A. Vashi, FAAD

Dr. Neelam A. Vashi, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist with a distinguished background in academic medicine, now bringing her expertise to the Dermatology Institute of Boston. Dr. Vashi is the former Director of the Boston University Cosmetic and Laser Center and Founding Director of the Boston University Center for Ethnic Skin. She has served as an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and an Adjunct Professor of Dermatology at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr. Vashi earned her medical degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her dermatology residency at New York University (NYU) in the renowned Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology. Dr. Vashi’s practice blends the highest standards of patient care with a personalized approach, drawing on her extensive experience in cosmetic dermatology, skin of color, and laser treatments. She is committed to delivering exceptional results while building lasting relationships with her patients.

Dr. Vashi’s research and clinical expertise spans a broad range of topics, including: cosmetic dermatology, skin of color, melasma and hyperpigmentation. As a recognized authority in medical and cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Vashi is celebrated for her extensive contributions to the field. She is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, the author of several book chapters, and a sought-after speaker at both national and international dermatology conferences. Dr. Vashi has authored four acclaimed textbooks and her expertise has been featured extensively in prominent media outlets, including: The Boston Globe, CNN, Forbes, CNBC, Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, MSN, The Washington Post, US News and World Report, Fortune, ABC, and Chicago Tribune, among others. She has been recognized as one of the world’s experts in hyperpigmentation having been the senior author of over 100 peer-reviewed articles in the scientific literature.

Dr. Vashi was raised in the Midwest, and now resides in Newton with her husband and three children. A dedicated philanthropist, Dr. Vashi enjoys engaging in charitable activities with her family. Together, they support their community through their initiative, Crafts of Compassion, which focuses on spreading kindness and creativity. More about the charity can be found at Crafts of Compassion.
